Divide into possible cases and prove each separately.
If A → C and B → C, then (A ∨ B) → CUniverse exists by: necessity, chance, or design. Only design is coherent.
(Necessity ∨ Chance ∨ Design) ∧ ¬Necessity ∧ ¬Chance → DesignCase 1: Universe exists by necessity — but the universe is contingent (it could have been different), so this fails. Case 2: Universe exists by chance — the probability of life-permitting constants arising randomly is astronomically low (~1 in 10^120), making chance implausible. Case 3: Universe exists by design — this explains both the existence and the fine-tuning of the universe.
This is proof by cases (disjunction elimination): we list all mutually exclusive possibilities, show that all but one fail, and conclude the remaining option must be true.
This proof demonstrates the logical foundations of Islamic beliefs through rigorous philosophical methodology.
