Long, long ago in the hot desert city of Mecca, there lived a very special young man named Bilal. He had dark skin and a
beautiful, strong voice that could be heard from far away. But Bilal wasn't free like other people - he was a slave who
had to work very hard every day.
Even though Bilal's life was difficult, he had something wonderful in his heart - he loved Allah very much! When he
heard about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the message of Islam, his heart filled with joy and light.
Bilal learned that in Islam, Allah doesn't care about the color of your skin, how much money you have, or whether you're
a king or a servant. What matters most to Allah is having a good, kind heart and believing in Him. This made Bilal so
happy!
At first, Bilal had to keep his faith in Islam secret because his master, Umayyah ibn Khalaf, hated Islam and the
Prophet Muhammad. Bilal would quietly say his prayers and remember Allah in his heart, even while he was working hard
under the burning sun.
But secrets have a way of coming out, and one day, Umayyah discovered that Bilal had become a Muslim!
Umayyah became furiously angry! He couldn't believe that his slave had dared to follow Prophet Muhammad's teachings. He
decided to punish Bilal in the cruelest way he could think of.
On the hottest day of the year, when the sun was blazing like fire in the sky, Umayyah dragged Bilal out into the
desert. He made him lie down on the burning hot sand and placed a huge, heavy rock on his chest.
"Give up Islam!" shouted Umayyah. "Say bad things about Muhammad, or you will stay here until you die!"
But brave Bilal, even with the heavy rock crushing his chest and the hot sand burning his back, looked up at the bright
blue sky and said in his strong, beautiful voice: "Ahad! Ahad!" which means "One! One!" - talking about Allah being the
One and Only God.
The hot sand burned him, the heavy rock hurt him terribly, but Bilal kept saying "Ahad! Ahad!" He refused to give up his
faith in Allah, no matter how much pain he had to endure.
Some of the other people watching felt sorry for Bilal, but they were too scared of Umayyah to help. Day after day, this
terrible punishment continued, but Bilal never gave up his belief in Allah.
One day, a very kind and generous man named Abu Bakr (who was Prophet Muhammad's best friend) was walking through the
city when he heard about what was happening to poor Bilal.
Abu Bakr's heart filled with sadness and anger when he saw how cruelly Bilal was being treated just for believing in
Allah. He went straight to Umayyah and said, "How much money do you want for Bilal? I will buy him from you right now!"
Umayyah thought this was a great opportunity to get rid of Bilal and make money at the same time. He agreed to sell
Bilal to Abu Bakr for a large amount of money.
As soon as Abu Bakr bought Bilal, he did something amazing - he set him completely free! "You are no longer anyone's
slave," said Abu Bakr with a big smile. "You are a free man, and you can worship Allah however you want!"
Bilal couldn't believe it! Tears of joy streamed down his face as he thanked Abu Bakr and thanked Allah for this
incredible blessing. After years of suffering and slavery, he was finally free!
Bilal's troubles were over, but his amazing story was just beginning! He became one of Prophet Muhammad's closest
companions and helpers. Because he had such a beautiful, powerful voice, Prophet Muhammad chose him for a very special
job.
When it was time to call all the Muslims to prayer, Bilal would climb up to the highest place in the city and use his
wonderful voice to call out: "Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!" (Allah is the Greatest!)
His voice was so beautiful and so strong that people from all over the city could hear him clearly. He became the very
first mu'adhdhin (the person who calls people to prayer) in all of Islam!
When Prophet Muhammad and the Muslims finally returned to Mecca as winners, something very special happened. The Prophet
asked Bilal to climb on top of the most important building in the whole city - the Kaaba - and call the people to prayer
from there!
Imagine how Bilal felt! The same man who had once been tortured in the desert sand was now standing on top of the most
sacred place in the world, calling everyone to worship Allah with his beautiful voice!
**Stay Strong in Your Faith**: Even when things are very difficult, never give up believing in what's right.
**Allah Loves Everyone Equally**: It doesn't matter what you look like or where you come from - Allah loves all good
people the same.
**Patience is Rewarded**: Bilal was patient during his suffering, and Allah rewarded him with freedom and honor.
**Help Others**: Abu Bakr used his money to help someone in need, and Allah blessed him for his kindness.
**Use Your Talents**: Bilal used his beautiful voice to serve Allah and help other people.
**From Hardship Comes Ease**: Allah promises that after every difficulty comes relief and happiness.
Bilal lived a long, happy life as a free man, always using his voice to call people to prayer and always remembering
Allah. When he was very old, he became sick, but he wasn't sad.
His wife was crying and said, "Oh, what a terrible thing!"
But wise Bilal smiled and said, "No, don't cry! This is wonderful! Tomorrow I will meet my beloved Prophet Muhammad and
my dear friend Abu Bakr in Paradise!"
And that's exactly what happened. Bilal passed away peacefully, and all the Muslims knew that he had gone to the most
beautiful place - Paradise - where there is no pain, no sadness, and no slavery, only joy and peace forever.
Every single day, all around the world, millions of Muslims hear the call to prayer just like the one Bilal used to
make. And every time we hear "Allahu Akbar" echoing from the minarets, we can remember brave Bilal and how he never gave
up his faith, no matter how hard things got.
Bilal's story teaches us that no matter who we are or what problems we face, if we believe in Allah and stay strong in
our faith, Allah will always take care of us and give us something beautiful in the end.
Just like Bilal, we should always be brave, kind, and never give up on what we know is right!
