Abdullah’s ransom with camels
Abdul Muttalib vowed to sacrifice one of his sons, and the lot fell on Abdullah, the Prophet’s father.
Abdul Muttalib, upon having ten sons, vowed to sacrifice one of them in gratitude. The lot fell on Abdullah, the dearest of his children and father of the Prophet ﷺ. The Quraysh objected to the sacrifice and advised consulting a wise woman. She instructed to draw lots between Abdullah and ten camels, increasing camels by ten each time. The lot continued to fall on Abdullah until the number of camels reached one hundred, when finally the lot fell on the camels. Abdullah was spared, and the camels were sacrificed.
