FAQ
It varies widely. Memorizing one page per day takes about 20 months. Many full-time students complete it in 1-3 years, while part-time learners may take 3-6 years. Consistency matters far more than speed.
The most proven method is to memorize a small portion after Fajr when the mind is fresh, repeat it at least 20 times, recite it in your prayers throughout the day, and review it the next morning before adding new verses. Listening to a reciter you love also strengthens retention.
Most scholars recommend starting with Juz Amma (the 30th part) because the surahs are short and frequently recited in prayer. After that, move to Al-Mulk, Ya-Sin, Al-Kahf, and Ar-Rahman — surahs with special virtues mentioned in hadith.
Revision (muraaja'ah) is the key. Dedicate at least twice as much time to review as to new memorization. Recite memorized portions in your daily prayers, set a fixed daily revision schedule, and connect with a teacher or partner who can test you regularly.
The Prophet ⸧ said: "It will be said to the companion of the Quran: Read and ascend, and recite as you used to recite in the world, for your rank will be at the last verse you recite."
