Types of Found Items

**Three Categories:** **1. Insignificant Items:** What people don't care about - like a whip, loaf of bread, fruit, stick. This may be picked up and the finder may use it and own it without announcement. **2. Self-Protecting Animals:** What can protect itself from small predators - like camels, horses, cattle, mules. It is **forbidden** to pick these up and the finder does not own them by announcement. - **Hadith:** "What is it to you? Leave them, for they have their footwear and water supply, coming to water and eating trees until their owner finds them." **3.
