What is qard and its legality
**Definition:** Giving wealth to one who benefits from it and returns its equivalent. **Legality:** It is legislated. Evidence includes general Quranic verses and hadiths indicating the virtue of: - Mutual assistance - Fulfilling a Muslim's need - Relieving his distress - Covering his need The Muslims have unanimously agreed on its permissibility. **Evidence from Sunnah:** **Hadith of Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه:** The Messenger of Allah ﷺ borrowed a young camel from a man. When camels of charity came to him, he ordered Abu Rafi' to repay the man his camel. Abu Rafi' returned saying: "I only found select four-year-olds." He ﷺ said: "Give it to him, for the best of people are those who are best in repaying" [Bukhari & Muslim] **Hadith of Ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه:** The Prophet ﷺ said: "No Muslim lends another Muslim twice except that it is like giving charity once" [Ibn Majah - hasan]
