No minimum or maximum
There is no minimum or maximum limit for mahr. Anything that can validly be a price or wage can be a mahr. **Evidence for No Minimum:** - Allah says: "And lawful to you are [all others] beyond these, [provided] that you seek them with [wealth from] your property" [An-Nisa: 24] - He mentioned wealth generally without specifying a limit. - Sahl ibn Sa'd رضي الله عنه reported that the Prophet ﷺ said to a man regarding the woman who offered herself: "Give her, even if it is an iron ring" [Bukhari & Muslim]. This indicates that the minimum is whatever can be called wealth. **Evidence for No Maximum:** - Allah says: "But if you want to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount, do not take [back] from it anything" [An-Nisa: 20]. A "qintar" (great amount) means abundant wealth.
