When and how to perform aqiqah
**Ruling:** - Sunnah Mu'akkadah (strongly emphasized sunnah) **Evidence:** - **Hadith of Salman ibn 'Amir ad-Dabbi رضي الله عنه:** I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "With the boy is his aqiqah, so shed blood for him and remove the harm from him (shave his head)" [Bukhari] - **Hadith of Samurah رضي الله عنه:** The Prophet ﷺ said: "Every child is pledged to his aqiqah, slaughtered for him on his seventh day, named, and his head shaved" [Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i - sahih] - **Hadith of Abdullah ibn 'Amr رضي الله عنهما:** The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever has a child born to him and wants to sacrifice for him, let him sacrifice" [Abu Dawud, Nasa'i - sahih] **Time:** - **Permissible:** From the complete separation of the child from the mother - **Recommended time:** Until puberty - **Sunnah:** On the seventh day from birth **Evidence:** - **Hadith of Samurah رضي الله عنه:** "The child is pledged to his aqiqah, slaughtered for him on the seventh day, named, and his head shaved"
