Proving Breastfeeding

**Proving Breastfeeding:** Breastfeeding is established by the testimony of **one trustworthy woman** known for truthfulness, whether she testifies about herself or someone else - that she breastfed a child within the two years, five breastfeedings. **Evidence:** Uqbah ibn al-Harith said: "I married a woman, then another woman came and said: 'I breastfed both of you.' So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and he said: 'How [can you stay with her] when that has been said? Leave her'" or something similar [Bukhari]. This is testimony concerning private matters (awrah), so the testimony of women alone is accepted in it - without men - like testimony about childbirth.
