Drugs and drug dealing
**A. Ruling on Drugs (Other than Khamr):** **Definition:** Drugs are what cloud the intellect and mind, causing laziness, heaviness, and lethargy in the user - such as hashish, opium, heroin, and the like. **Ruling:** Drugs are **forbidden** however they are consumed. **Evidence:** - 'A'ishah رضي الله عنها reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Every drink that intoxicates is forbidden" [Bukhari & Muslim]. - Ibn 'Umar رضي الله عنهما reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Every intoxicant is khamr, and every intoxicant is forbidden..." [Muslim]. **Additional reason:** Due to the tremendous danger of these drugs, their severe corruption, their destruction of the Ummah's youth and men, and their diversion from obedience to their Lord, fighting their enemies, and noble matters. --- **B. Ruling on Drug Dealing:** The prohibition of selling khamr has come from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. **Evidence:** Jabir رضي الله عنه reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah has forbidden the sale of khamr, dead animals, pigs, and idols" [Muslim]. And he ﷺ said: "Indeed when Allah forbids something, He forbids its price" [Abu Dawud - authentic]. The scholars therefore said: What Allah has forbidden benefiting from, its sale is forbidden and consuming its price is forbidden. **Ruling on Drug Sale:** Since drugs fall under the category of khamr, the prohibition of selling khamr encompasses these drugs by Sharia. Therefore: - Selling them is **not permissible** - Money earned from dealing drugs is **forbidden (haram)**
