Allah destroys riba and increases charities
Why riba is forbidden
**Why Riba is Prohibited:** 1. **Promotes Selfishness:** - Dealing in riba promotes self-love and greed for accumulating wealth through illegitimate means 2. **Mercy for Servants:** - Its prohibition is mercy for people - The usurer takes others' money without giving any compensation 3. **Exploits the Poor:** - Leads to wealth concentration and increase at the expense of taking the poor's money 4. **Promotes Laziness:** - Accustoms the usurer to laziness and idleness - Distances him from engaging in permissible beneficial earnings 5. **Cuts Off Kindness:** - Blocks the door of interest-free loans (qard hasan) - A class of usurers controls the nation's wealth and the country's economy 6. **A Great Sin:** - It is a grave disobedience to Allah - Even if the usurer's money increases, Allah removes its blessings **Evidence:** - **Quran:** "Allah destroys usury and increases charities" [2:276]
