Three important rulings
**Three Rulings:** **1. Unknown Rights:** Settlement is valid for unknown rights - what is difficult to know of debt or property. Like when two people have dealings between them and neither knows what he owes the other. **2. Valid Subjects:** Settlement is valid for everything for which compensation may be taken - like settlement for retaliation (qisas) with the legally prescribed blood money, or less, or more. **3. Invalid Subjects:** Settlement is not valid for that for which compensation may not be taken - like settlement regarding prescribed punishments (hudud), because they were legislated as deterrents.
