O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them for their waiting period
The divorce permitted by Sharia
**Definition:** Sunnah divorce is the divorce permitted by the Lawgiver, occurring according to the teachings of Islamic law. It relates to two matters: 1. The number of divorces 2. The timing of divorce **The Sunnah Method:** If the husband is compelled to divorce, the Sunnah is to: - Divorce one divorce only - In a period of purity (tuhr) during which he did not have intercourse with her - Leave her without following it with another divorce until her waiting period ends **Evidence:** Allah says: "O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them for their waiting period" [At-Talaq: 1] - meaning: at the time when they begin their waiting period, which is the period of purity, since the menstruation period is not counted in the waiting period. Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas and others said about this verse: "[Divorce her] during purity without intercourse." --- **Ruling:** Scholars have unanimously agreed that Sunnah divorce takes effect. **Evidence:** Allah says: "O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them for their waiting period" [At-Talaq: 1] - meaning during the time of purity.
