Types of Killing

**Killing is divided into three types:** 1. **Intentional killing (Qatl al-'Amd)** - قتل العمد 2. **Quasi-intentional killing (Qatl Shibh al-'Amd)** - قتل شبه العمد 3. **Accidental killing (Qatl al-Khata')** - قتل الخطأ --- **Evidence for the Categories:** The accidental and intentional are mentioned in Allah's saying: "And never is it for a believer to kill a believer except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer by mistake - then the freeing of a believing slave and a compensation payment presented to the deceased's family" [An-Nisa: 92]. And: "And whoever kills a believer intentionally - his recompense is Hell..." [An-Nisa: 93]. As for quasi-intentional, it is established in the Sunnah that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The blood money for quasi-intentional killing is aggravated like that of intentional killing" [Abu Dawud, Ahmad].
