What is ghasb and its prohibition
**Linguistic Definition:** Taking something by injustice/oppression. **Legal Definition:** Seizing another's right unjustly and aggressively without right. **Ruling:** **Prohibited** by consensus of the Muslims. **Evidence from Quran:** - "Do not consume one another's wealth unjustly" [2:188] **Evidence from Sunnah:** - **Hadith:** "The property of a Muslim is not lawful except by his consent" [Ahmad, Daraqutni - sahih] - **Hadith:** "Whoever takes a span of land unjustly will be collared with it on the Day of Judgment from seven earths" [Bukhari & Muslim] **Repentance Required:** Whoever has wronged his brother must repent to Allah and seek his brother's pardon in this world. - **Hadith:** "Whoever has wronged his brother in his honor or anything else, let him seek his pardon today before there will be no dinar or dirham. If he has good deeds, they will be taken from him according to his wrongdoing. If he has no good deeds, bad deeds will be taken from his victim and placed upon him" [Bukhari]
