Six requirements for valid gifts
**Six Conditions:** **1. Legal Capacity of Giver:** The giver must be legally capable of disposal - free, sane, adult, and prudent. **2. Free Choice:** The giver must give willingly - a gift from one who is coerced is invalid. **3. Valid Subject Matter:** The gifted item must be something that can be sold - what cannot be sold cannot be gifted (like wine or pork). **4. Acceptance:** The recipient must accept the gift, because it is a transfer of ownership requiring offer and acceptance. **5. Unconditional:** The gift must not be temporary - like saying "I give you this for a month or year" - because a gift is a pure donation. **6. Without Compensation:** It must be without exchange, as it is a pure voluntary donation.
