Shared Rights

Most of the aforementioned rights are shared between the spouses, especially the right of intimacy and what follows from it. **Shared obligations include:** - Each spouse improving their character for the other - Bearing the other's harm - Living together in kindness - Not delaying the other's rights - Not being reluctant to fulfill them - Not following them with harm or reminders of favors **Evidence:** - Allah says: "And live with them in kindness" [An-Nisa: 19] - Allah says: "And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable" [Al-Baqarah: 228] - The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best of you is the best to his family" [Ahmad, Abu Dawud] --- **Patience with Dislike:** It is also Sunnah for the husband to keep his wife even when he dislikes her. - **Evidence:** Allah says: "And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good" [An-Nisa: 19]
