Two categories of sins
Sins requiring ta'zir are of two types: **1. Abandoning Obligations While Able to Fulfill Them:** Such as: - Paying debts - Returning trusts - Managing orphans' wealth Whoever abandons these and similar obligations is punished until he fulfills them. **Evidence:** The Prophet ﷺ said: "Delaying payment by a wealthy person is oppression" [Bukhari & Muslim]. In another narration: "Delay by the capable one permits [complaining about] his honor and his punishment" [Abu Dawud - authentic]. --- **2. Committing Prohibitions:** Such as: - A man being alone with a non-mahram woman - Touching her inappropriately - Kissing or joking with her - Women being intimate with women In such cases, ta'zir is applied since no specific punishment is prescribed.
