When it becomes obligatory, recommended, or disliked
The ruling of marriage varies from person to person: **1. Obligatory (Wajib):** When a person fears falling into fornication and is able to afford the costs and expenses of marriage - because marriage is the means to protect him from falling into the forbidden. If he cannot afford it, he should fast and seek chastity until Allah enriches him from His bounty. **2. Recommended (Mustahabb):** When a person has desire and can afford the costs of marriage, but does not fear falling into fornication. - This is based on the general verses and hadiths that encourage and promote marriage. **3. Disliked (Makruh):** When a person has no need for it - such as one who is impotent, elderly, or ill with no desire. - *Impotent (العنين):* One who cannot consummate with women or has no desire for them.
