Fasting the Day of Arafah, I hope from Allah, expiates the year before and the year after
Expiates two years (for non-pilgrims)
**Evidence:** - **Hadith of Abu Qatadah:** "Fasting the Day of Arafah, I hope from Allah that it expiates the year before it and the year after it" [Muslim] **For Non-Pilgrims Only:** - The pilgrim does NOT fast on Arafah - The Prophet ﷺ broke his fast that day while people watched - Reason: To strengthen for worship and supplication on that great day
