**Ruling:** Prohibited (Haram) **Definition:** - The 30th of Sha'ban when something in the sky prevents moon sighting - If the sky is clear, there is no doubt **Evidence:** - **Hadith of Ammar:** "Whoever fasts the day of doubt has disobeyed Abu al-Qasim ﷺ" [Tirmidhi - hasan sahih] - **Hadith:** "Do not precede Ramadan by fasting a day or two, unless a man has a regular fast he observes, then let him fast that day" [Bukhari] **Exceptions:** - If one has a regular fast (like Monday) that happens to be that day - Makeup (qada) or vow (nadhr) fasting - these are obligatory
