Do not fast Saturday except what is obligated upon you
Disliked unless combined or obligatory
**Ruling:** Disliked to single out Saturday for fasting **Evidence:** - **Hadith:** "Do not fast Saturday except what is obligated upon you" [Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah - sahih] **Meaning:** - The prohibition is against singling it out and specifying it for fasting **If Combined:** - Permissible when joined with another day - **Hadith of Juwayriyah:** The Prophet ﷺ entered upon her on Friday while she was fasting. He asked: "Did you fast yesterday?" She said no. He asked: "Do you intend to fast tomorrow?" She said no. He said: "Then break your fast" [Bukhari] - This proves Saturday fasting is allowed with another day **Reason:** - Imam Tirmidhi: "The dislike is for a man to single out Saturday for fasting because the Jews venerate Saturday"
