Buried treasure and extracted minerals
**RIKAZ (Buried Treasure):** **Definition:** Treasures buried by pre-Islamic peoples, bearing signs of disbelief (their names, images, symbols). **Conditions:** - Found from Jahiliyyah era (has kufr markings) - Found without significant effort or expense - If found with major effort/expense → not rikaz **Amount Due:** - **20% (one-fifth)** of any amount - No nisab required - No hawl required - **Hadith:** "In rikaz is one-fifth" [Bukhari & Muslim] **Use:** Goes to public Muslim interests (fay' - state treasury) --- **MINERALS:** **Definition:** Anything generated from the earth, not of its substance, not plant - whether liquid (oil, tar) or solid (iron, copper, gold, silver, mercury). **Obligation:** By consensus of scholars. **Evidence:** "Spend from... what We brought forth for you from the earth" [2:267] - includes minerals. **Amount:** 2.5% (same as gold/silver) according to majority - treated like other wealth.
