The Prophet ﷺ enjoined Zakat al-Fitr: a sa' of dates or barley
Charity at end of Ramadan
**Definition:** Called "Fitr" because it becomes due upon breaking the fast of Ramadan. It is Zakat on the person/body, not on wealth. **Ruling:** Obligatory on every Muslim. **Hadith:** "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ enjoined Zakat al-Fitr from Ramadan: a sa' of dates or a sa' of barley, on the slave and free, male and female, young and old among the Muslims."
