What is a sale and its permissibility
**Linguistic Definition:** Taking something and giving something (exchange). **Legal Definition:** Exchanging property for property, even if in liability (deferred), or a permissible benefit permanently - excluding usury and loans. **Ruling:** Sale is **permissible** (ja'iz). **Evidence from Quran:** - **Quran:** "Allah has permitted trade" [2:275] **Evidence from Sunnah:** - **Hadith of Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما:** The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When two men make a sale, each of them has the option as long as they have not parted and are still together" [Bukhari & Muslim] **Consensus:** The Muslims have unanimously agreed on the permissibility of trade in general. **Wisdom:** People's needs call for its existence because a person needs what is in others' hands, and his interests are connected to it. There is no way to obtain it through a sound path except through trade. Therefore, wisdom necessitated its permissibility and legality to achieve the desired purpose.
