**Amount:** One sa' (approximately 2.5-3 kg) per person. **Type:** From the **staple food** of the people: - Wheat, barley, dates, raisins, aqit (dried yogurt) - Rice, corn, or whatever is common in your region **Distribution:** - Multiple people can give to one recipient - One person can give to multiple recipients **Cash Payment:** - **Not permissible** to give cash value - The Prophet ﷺ specified food - Companions gave it as food - It's a specified worship that must be given in kind **Hadith of Ibn Umar specifies:** "A sa' of dates or a sa' of barley."
