Purification for the fasting person and food for the poor
Purposes behind this obligation
**1. Purifies the fasting person:** - Cleanses from vain talk (laghw) and obscenity (rafath) during fasting **2. Feeds the poor on Eid:** - Provides for the needy so they don't beg on Eid - Brings joy to all segments of society on the day of celebration **Hadith:** "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ enjoined Zakat al-Fitr as purification for the fasting person from vain talk and obscenity, and as food for the poor." [Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah] **3. Shows gratitude to Allah:** - Thanks Allah for completing the fast of Ramadan - Thanks for the ability to do good deeds in the blessed month
