Categories by Inheritance Type

**Four Categories:** **Category 1: Those who inherit by Fixed Share (فرض) only** Seven people: Both spouses, both grandmothers, mother, and her two children (maternal siblings). **Category 2: Those who inherit by Residue ('Asaba) only** Twelve people: Son and his son, full brother and his son, paternal brother and his son, full uncle and his son, paternal uncle and his son, male emancipator and female emancipator. **Category 3: Those who inherit by Residue sometimes, by Fixed Share sometimes, and may combine both** Two people: Father and grandfather (when there are female descendants). **Category 4: Those who inherit by Fixed Share sometimes, by Residue sometimes, but never combine both** Those with half share (except husband), and those with two-thirds share - i.e., daughters, son's daughters, full sisters, and paternal sisters.
