Menstruation & Postpartum

**Ruling:** - Woman in menses or postpartum bleeding **must** break fast - Fasting is **prohibited** for her during this state - Even if she fasts, it is **invalid** **Evidence:** - **Hadith:** "Isn't it that when she menstruates, she doesn't pray or fast? That is the deficiency in her religion" [Bukhari] **Makeup Obligation:** - **Hadith of Aisha:** "We were afflicted by that (menses), so we were ordered to make up the fast but not the prayer" [Muslim] **Key Difference from Prayer:** - Prayer: Not made up - Fasting: Must be made up
