The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Between a man and shirk/kufr is abandoning prayer'
The severe ruling on one who leaves prayer
**Denying its Obligation:** Kufr (disbelief) by consensus - rejecting Allah, His Messenger, and Muslim consensus. **Abandoning from Laziness:** The correct view: **Kufr** if abandoned completely and permanently. **Evidence:** - "If they repent, establish prayer, and give zakat, then they are your brothers in faith" [9:11] - "The covenant between us and them is prayer; whoever abandons it has disbelieved" **Occasionally Missing:** One who prays sometimes and misses sometimes is not kafir - the texts refer to complete abandonment.
