Must be free from disqualifying defects
The animal must be free from defects that diminish the meat. **Four Disqualifying Defects:** 1. **Obvious blindness** (العوراء البيّن عورها) 2. **Obvious illness** (المريضة البيّن مرضها) 3. **Obvious lameness** (العرجاء البيّن عرجها) 4. **Emaciation** (العجفاء) - so thin it has no marrow **Evidence:** - **Hadith of al-Bara' ibn 'Azib رضي الله عنه:** The Prophet ﷺ said: "Four do not suffice in sacrifices: the one-eyed whose blindness is obvious, the sick whose sickness is obvious, the lame whose lameness is obvious, and the emaciated that has no marrow" [Malik, Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud - sahih] **By Analogy (Qiyas):** These defects extend to similar ones: - **Hatma':** Lost front teeth - **'Adba':** Lost most of ear or horn - And similar defects
