**When to Stop Shortening:** 1. **Absolute residence intention** - no shortening 2. **Intends to stay more than 4 days** - complete prayers 3. **Stays for need, unsure when done** - may shorten even for years **Evidence:** - Prophet ﷺ stayed in Makkah 4 days (after conquest) shortening - Scholars say: more than 4 days = complete **Special Case:** - Held by force (prison, rain) - may shorten indefinitely
